Basketball Game Preview: Waconia Wildcats vs. Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights

The Waconia Wildcats will face off against the Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Waconia's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 matchups.

Waconia took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 72-71 photo finish over St. Louis Park. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Orioles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Benilde-St. Margaret's was able to grind out a solid victory over Chanhassen on Tuesday, taking the game 76-63. Given the Red Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Storm are ranked 108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Benilde-St. Margaret's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.9 points over those games. As for Waconia, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
