Softball Recap: Central Bucks East Patriots vs. Pennridge Rams
Central Bucks East had lost six straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 8-8 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Pennridge Rams by a score of 3-1. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 12-11.
Sarah Zmuda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits.
At the plate, Central Bucks East saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elena Bhatt, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
As for Pennridge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games.
On Pennridge's side, Averi Dockery made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Dockery has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jadyn Gulbinski, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Emerson Lesher was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
