Softball Recap: East Paulding Wins Going Away Against Rome

East Paulding got themselves on the board against Rome on Tuesday, but Rome never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 19-0 win. With that victory, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Emma Spain made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Spain was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Chloe Grier and Emma Hernandez did most of the damage at the plate: Grier went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Hernandez went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Grier has posted over her last nine contests. Ansley Shiver was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

East Paulding always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive games.

East Paulding has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Rome, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.

Looking ahead, East Paulding will face off against New Manchester at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rome, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-0 victory against Douglas County on the 24th.
