Remember the Immaculate Reception by Franco Harris? This is the Immaculate Interception and touchdown.
Video: Last Play, Fumble Rumble TDTake a knee.
That's a fine philosophy and act of sportsmanship as a team is driving toward a meaningless touchdown at the end of the game. No reason to rub it in.
When a defensive team intercepts a pass while holding on to a close lead late, sometimes taking a knee is a smart thing to avoid fumbling.
But in some cases, it's just too difficult to pass up, no pun intended.
In the case of this middle school game in Myrtle Beach, S.C., a defensive player takes back an interception about 80 yards for what looks to be a last-minute score. The crowd goes crazy and his sideline exalts him on, but then he gets hit. Then the ball flies loose right into the hands of his teammate, a large defensive lineman hustling downfield to throw a block.
He's rewarded.
He looks like the largest kid on the field, but he knows exactly what to do - and it's not to take a knee.
