Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Leo

Leo had won two straight games and Leah Shappell did her part to make it three on Saturday. The Leo Lions were the clear victor by a 59-38 margin over the New Haven Bulldogs thanks in part to Shappell, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. The matchup was her fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Mackenzie Collins was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in assists.

Leo is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for New Haven, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leo will challenge East Noble at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Haven, they will face off against Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
