Baseball Game Preview: Dobie Longhorns vs. Pasadena Memorial Mavericks

The Dobie Longhorns are taking a road trip to square off against the Pasadena Memorial Mavericks at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Dobie needed a bit of extra time to put away Pasadena Memorial. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Mavericks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Longhorns have posted since February 22, 2024.

Juelz Martinez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dobie is 2-1 when Martinez allowstwo or fewer hits, but 4-8 otherwise. Martinez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Willard Joiner III was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Miguel Mercedes, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Pasadena Memorial dropped their record down to 8-9-2 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Dobie, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-9.
