The Hernando Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Corinth Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Hernando got the win against Biloxi by a conclusive 13-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Beau Herman looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Cole Gregg was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Axton Westmoreland was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Hernando kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Corinth won against Lafayette last Friday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Kossuth. The game was the first time the Warriors have beaten the Aggies on their field since March 8, 2021.
Grady Mitchell was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Reed Moss also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Hernando now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Corinth, their record is now 3-1.
Corinth's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hernando hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. It's a different story for Corinth, though, as they've only averaged .211. Will they be able to contain Hernando's hitters?
Hernando suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Corinth when the teams last played back in February of 2025. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
