Volleyball Recap: Reagan Starts Season with Win at Home

Reagan took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Mater Academy Charter Lions with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bison in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-13.

Leading Reagan to victory were Santiago Mejia and Diego Requena. Mejia had 14 digs and four aces, while Requena hit 83.3% for five kills and 33 assists and three aces. Those 83.3% hitting percentage gave Requena a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Reagan was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Mater Academy Charter's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Carlos Verde, who had 22 digs and one assist, and Davier Fidalgo, who had 22 digs.

Reagan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Sunset on the 6th. As for Mater Academy Charter, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Hialeah Educational Academy on the 5th.
