Baseball Recap: Laurel Spartans vs. Bowie Bulldogs
Laurel extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bowie Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 back in March.
As for Bowie, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 10-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average this season.
For Bowie's part, not much got past Brandon Epps, who gave up just two hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep Laurel off the board. Epps has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bowie saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jon Sanchez-Lohr, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Jayden Ryland was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
