Basketball Recap: Houston Math Science & Tech Tigers vs. Westside Wolves
Houston Math Science & Tech suffered their biggest loss since November 18th on Saturday. They were beaten by the Westside Wolves 57-27. The Tigers lost against the Wolves in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 68-15 score last time.
Jakaila Matlock was nothing short of spectacular for Westside: she went 10 for 21 on her way to 21 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Matlock's morning made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenadee Josey, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.
Houston Math Science & Tech's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for Westside, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-11.
Houston Math Science & Tech will welcome Milby at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Houston Math Science & Tech is facing Milby at the right time seeing as Milby is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Westside and Kingwood Park will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on December 28th.
