Baseball Recap: Sturgeon Bay Find Success

Sturgeon Bay proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Algoma Wolves, sneaking past 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Clippers in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won three in a row.

Ethan Kratcha spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Sturgeon Bay is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Sturgeon Bay saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Siggy Hansen, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That run was Hansen's first of the season.

The win got Sturgeon Bay back to even at 5-5. As for Algoma, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Sturgeon Bay will head out to square off against Luxemburg-Casco at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Algoma, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Kewaunee at 4:30 p.m.
