Softball Recap: East Bakersfield Comes Up Short

East Bakersfield extended their losing streak to 17 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-17 in the process. They came up short against the North Stars, falling 15-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Stars this season, with their most recent loss being a 17-4 defeat on Tuesday.

East Bakersfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Fuentes, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for North, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-8. The result was nothing new for the Stars, who have now won 14 games by six runs or more so far this season.

On North's side, the team relied heavily on Kaitlin Branson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Branson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Katherine Leask, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Coming up, East Bakersfield will be playing in front of their home fans against West at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.28 runs per game on average), something the Blades will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for North, they have already played their next matchup, a 22-1 victory against Mojave on the 25th.
