Baseball Recap: Wheatland Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Wheatland had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Buffalo Bison a 23-0 shutout. The Mules have beaten the Bison the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bison has come to flipping the script.

The team relied heavily on Nathan Sawyer, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Murphy, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Looking ahead, Wheatland will face off against New Bloomfield at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Buffalo, they will square off against Strafford at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
