Softball Game Preview: Northland Pines Eagles vs. Antigo Red Robins

Northland Pines hasn't had much luck against Antigo recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will square off against the Red Robins at 4:30 p.m. Northland Pines has given up an average of 18.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Northland Pines is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 25th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 18-0 to Medford.

Meanwhile, Antigo entered their tilt with Wausau West on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They skirted past the Warriors 5-3.

Antigo's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Breleigh Akright, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Antigo's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Northland Pines, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-18.

Northland Pines might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Antigo when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
