Basketball Recap: Silverado Comes Up Short

Silverado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 33-29 heartbreaker at the hands of the Green Valley Gators. The Skyhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Green Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Patai led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Patai is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmine Ramirez, who posted six points and four steals.

Silverado's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Green Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-11.

Silverado and Sunrise Mountain will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Silverado is facing Sunrise Mountain at the right time seeing as Sunrise Mountain is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Green Valley, they and Del Sol will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
