Basketball Game Preview: Staunton River Golden Eagles vs. Lord Botetourt Cavaliers

Staunton River is 0-10 against Lord Botetourt since January of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Staunton River Golden Eagles will host the Lord Botetourt Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Staunton River challenged Abingdon on Monday. Staunton River took a blow against Abingdon, falling 89-53.

Meanwhile, Lord Botetourt lost to Salem at home by a 79-65 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Spartans are ranked 35th).

Lord Botetourt has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Staunton River, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Staunton River was taken down by Lord Botetourt 65-34 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Staunton River avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
