Basketball Recap: Reno Comes Up Short

If Reno was feeling good fresh off their 70-36 takedown of Reed last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Reno Huskies were beaten by the Damonte Ranch Mustangs 62-35 on Monday. The match marked the Huskies' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Reno lost, don't look at Johnavin Evans. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Reno smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Damonte Ranch only pulled down five offensive rebounds.

It was another big night for Drew Dodson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds for Damonte Ranch. Dodson is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeriah Macias, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Reno's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Damonte Ranch, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Reno wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-48 loss against Bishop Manogue on the 8th. As for Damonte Ranch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 81-61 victory against McQueen on the 8th.
