Basketball Game Preview: White Oak Vikings vs. South Mecklenburg Sabres

Two dominant guards in Curtis Jackson and Jim Gatehouse are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The White Oak Vikings and the South Mecklenburg Sabres will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

On Friday, White Oak earned a 64-56 win over Croatan.

Meanwhile, South Mecklenburg hadn't done well against Myers Park recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. South Mecklenburg came out on top against Myers Park by a score of 71-63.

White Oak better keep an eye on Ben Houpt. He was instrumental in South Mecklenburg's win, going 9 for 13 on his way to 26 points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks. Houpt's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gatehouse, who posted 11 points and eight boards.

South Mecklenburg has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for White Oak, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
