Basketball Recap: Monticello Falls Despite Big Games from Melissa Negron and Morgan Hutchins

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat. They lost 52-31 to the Washingtonville Wizards. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wizards this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-27 back in January.

Morgan Hutchins and Melissa Negron certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Hutchins posted nine points and three steals, while Negron had seven points and eight rebounds. Those seven points gave Negron a new career-high.

Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Washingtonville, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12.

Looking ahead, Monticello and Minisink Valley will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played. As for Washingtonville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Valley Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
