Softball Recap: Segerstrom Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Segerstrom, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Troy Warriors on Tuesday. The Jaguars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

The team relied heavily on Alyssa Martinez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Macias, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Martinez wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Segerstrom kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Segerstrom pushed their record up to 4-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Troy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Segerstrom will square off against Aliso Niguel at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Aliso Niguel will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Segerstrom surely won't give up without a fight. As for Troy, they will face off against Ocean View at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
