Baseball Game Preview: Van Meter Bulldogs vs. Earlham Cardinals

Van Meter is 9-1 against Earlham since June of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bulldogs will host the Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. Van Meter's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Earlham's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Van Meter took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Panorama get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Earlham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 6-1 to Interstate 35.

Van Meter's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Earlham, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Everything went Van Meter's way against Earlham when the teams last played back in May, as Van Meter made off with a 7-1 win. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
