Baseball Game Preview: Edwards County Lions vs. Eldorado Eagles

Edwards County is a perfect 10-0 against Eldorado since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Edwards County has three straight victories, Eldorado has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Edwards County's win against Hamilton County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Foxes on Thursday.

Jackson Hensley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Hensley was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Cash Conner was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Eldorado duked it out with Gallatin County on Friday. The Eagles came up short against the Hawks, falling 8-2.

Edwards County's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Eldorado, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Everything went Edwards County's way against Eldorado in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Edwards County made off with an 11-2 win. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
