Recap: Raymore-Peculiar Panthers vs. Belton Pirates

The Raymore-Peculiar Panthers waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 win over Belton. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Raymore-Peculiar has posted against Belton since January 9, 2015.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kordell Williams, who scored 18 points. Williams has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Cooper Shrum was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Raymore-Peculiar has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Belton, they dropped their record down to 9-15 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Raymore-Peculiar will take on Blue Springs South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Blue Springs South will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Raymore-Peculiar surely won't give up without a fight. As for Belton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Platte County at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Platte County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
