Baseball Game Preview: Minarets Mustangs vs. Sunnyside Wildcats

The Minarets Mustangs will be taking part in a tournament against the Sunnyside Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Minarets' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Sunnyside's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Minarets is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Firebaugh a 10-0 shutout on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Torin Wolf made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Ethan Akins was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. That run marked the first that he scored this season.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Coalinga.

The victory got Minarets back to even at 3-3. As for Sunnyside, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
