Basketball Recap: Central Falls Takes a Loss

Central Falls was the 68-62 winner over Prout when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Central Falls Warriors lost 88-66 to the Prout Crusaders on Friday. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Loss or not, Central Falls got some senior leadership from Jamilson De Pina Almeida and Leandro Rojas Vargas. De Pina Almeida dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 boards, while Rojas Vargas dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. De Pina Almeida is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sire Hazard, who posted 11 points and seven assists.

Prout got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lawson O'Hearn out in front who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, O'Hearn is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Brugnoli, who went 8 of 19 en route to 19 points and six assists.

Central Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Prout, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.

Central Falls will face off against Exeter-West Greenwich at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Falls is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season. As for Prout, they will square off against North Smithfield at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Prout's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.
