Basketball Recap: Utopian Academy for the Arts Comes Up Short

Utopian Academy for the Arts played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 64-7 loss at the hands of the Lamar County Trojans. While losing is never fun, Utopian Academy for the Arts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 509th, while Lamar County is ranked 184th).

Leading Lamar County to victory were JaZiyah Foster and Briana Jackson. Foster posted 24 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, while Jackson scored nine points along with seven assists and six steals. That's the most points Jackson has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Makayla Watts, who earned four points and five assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Utopian Academy for the Arts and nudges their season record down to 3-14. As for Lamar County, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.

Utopian Academy for the Arts wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 73-22 defeat against Jasper County on the 17th. Lamar County has also already played their next contest, an 84-23 victory against Towers on the 17th.
