Softball Recap: Sun Prairie East Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Sun Prairie East, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over Middleton on Thursday. This was a revenge game for Sun Prairie East: when they faced off against Middleton back in April, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

Allison Giese spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooke Kavanaugh, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Ireland, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Sun Prairie East's win bumped their record up to 14-7-1. As for Middleton, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 11-1 and their overall record down to 19-3.

Looking ahead, Sun Prairie East will square off against Verona at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Middleton, they will host Oregon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their 20th straight victory, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight.
