Basketball Recap: Winter Springs Comes Up Short

Winter Springs suffered their biggest defeat since January 11, 2024 on Monday. They had to suffer through a 68-37 loss at the hands of the Lake Howell Silverhawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bears have suffered against the Silverhawks since December 4, 2019.

When it comes to explaining why Winter Springs lost, don't look at Jack Clark. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Federick, who put up two points and seven rebounds.

Janiel De Los Santos was his usual excellent self, putting up 15 points and five steals for Lake Howell. De Los Santos has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Fritz, who earned 13 points.

Winter Springs' defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6. As for Lake Howell, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which somehow still isn't as good as their 18-5 record this season.

Winter Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-48 victory against DeLand on the 29th. Lake Howell has also already played their next game, a 52-40 win against Lyman on the 29th.
