Basketball Recap: Lawrenceville Takes a Loss

If Lawrenceville was riding high fresh off their 74-51 takedown of Red Hill last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lawrenceville Indians were dealt a 68-35 defeat at the hands of the Casey-Westfield Warriors on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Indians have suffered against the Warriors since March 5, 2021.

When it comes to explaining why Lawrenceville lost, don't look at Jayden Goff. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emery Ivers, who put up eight points and six boards.

Hayden Parcel was his usual excellent self, going 9-for-15 to rack up 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Casey-Westfield. That makes it four consecutive games in which Parcel has scored at least a third of Casey-Westfield's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Karras, who scored seven points and 14 boards.

Lawrenceville's defeat dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Casey-Westfield, their victory bumped their record up to 17-7.

Lawrenceville has already played their next game (against Carmi-White County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Casey-Westfield, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-26 win against Tri-City on the 15th.
