Softball Recap: Teaneck Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Teaneck took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bergenfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Highwaymen beat the Bears on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-4. This was a revenge game for the Highwaymen: when they faced off against the Bears on April 4th, they had to take a 11-1 loss.

Olivia Rottner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off ten hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Leanna Guerrero was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Adelyn Perez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Teaneck kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Teaneck is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Bergenfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Teaneck will face off against Hasbrouck Heights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bergenfield, they will square off against Westwood at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
