Softball Recap: Assumption Wins Going Away Against Cooper

Assumption won the last time they faced Cooper and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Rockets blew past the Jaguars 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Lauren Satterly made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Campisano, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ashley Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Assumption always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Assumption's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cooper, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Assumption will venture away from home to face off against Holy Cross at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cooper, they will take on Ryle at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
