League recap: Limon tops Rye to extend winning streak

Limon extended the longest winning streak in 1A South Central this week by beating Rye, 41-0. The victory was the 10th in a row for the Badgers.

Burlington and Colorado Springs Christian played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Burlington eventually emerging with a 28-27 victory. Eloy Sandoval ran for 123 yards and caught one passes for 11 yards in the win.

Gavin Liggett and Chandler Dohe gave Limon a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Liggett threw for 129 yards and three touchdowns, while Dohe ran for 173 yards. Teammate Liggett added to the ground attack by rushing for 99 yards.

Nathan Baylor was the best wideout in the league this week as Crowley County lost to Monte Vista. Baylor racked up four receptions for 83 yards. Ryan Haynes helped Crowley County's passing attack out by catching five balls for 23 yards.

The Chargers' Herman Ross and Baylor have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 1A South Central in both passing and receiving yards. Ross has thrown for 1271 yards this season, while Baylor, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 27 catches for 569 yards. Mike O'Dwyer's team's Dohe leads the league in rushing yards with 1242.

The Cougars made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,123 from 7,258. The improvement came about via a 28-27 victory over the Lions last week.
