The Panthers will take on the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Seattle Prep has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Seattle Prep came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Lincoln, falling 20-9.
Libby Jenness made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Charlotte Larson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Garfield faced Sedro-Woolley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bulldogs lost 10-3 to the Cubs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since May 17, 2024.
Garfield also got a good showing from Sammy Breckenridge, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Breckenridge has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Joie Cunningham was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Seattle Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Garfield, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Seattle Prep hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Garfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Seattle Prep suffered a grim 16-3 defeat to Garfield in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
