Baseball Game Preview: Andrean Fighting 59ers vs. Hanover Central Wildcats

The Andrean Fighting 59ers will challenge the Hanover Central Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Andrean is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They put the hurt on River Forest with a sharp 22-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Fighting 59ers, who have now won 20 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Hanover Central waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Kougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Kougars since April 20, 2019.

Hanover Central got a massive performance out of Landon Sarkey, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Sarkey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Bowen, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Hanover Central's win bumped their record up to 22-7. As for Andrean, their victory bumped their record up to 26-3.

Everything went Andrean's way against Hanover Central in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Andrean made off with an 11-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting 59ers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
