Scio (Ore.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 24 points, drop to three before the final whistle blew on a 24-21 victory over
Santiam Christian (Corvallis, Ore.).
The Loggers were up 18-0 at the half after taking the lead on a
Nathan Jones touchdown run in the first quarter.
Scio expanded its lead to 24 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown catch by
AJ Holmberg.
With the win the Loggers extended their winning streak to six games. Scio defeated the Boomers 65-14 last week.
SHS's most effective player was
Daniel Harper. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 17 touchdowns on the season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Santiam Christian, which notched a 47-21 victory over Harrisburg in its previous outing.
Scio (6-1) goes up against Salem Academy in a 3A PacWest game matchup next week, while Santiam Christian (5-2) locks horns with Pleasant Hill also in a 3A PacWest game.
