Volleyball Recap: Oxford Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but Oxford unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against the Downingtown West Whippets, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

While Oxford was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Downingtown West's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21, 25-23.

Abigail Webb paced Oxford's offense, picking up six kills. Webb got some help from Maycie Smith and her 16 assists.

Oxford's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2-1.

Looking ahead, Oxford will be playing in front of their home fans against Sun Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Downingtown West, they will take on Pennsbury at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
