Basketball Recap: Mattoon Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four games, Mattoon finally came back down to earth on Friday. They took a blow against the Centralia Orphans, falling 48-20. The matchup marked the Greenwave's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Mattoon's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Centralia, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-1.

Coming up, Mattoon will head out to square off against Mt. Zion at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Centralia, they and Mt. Vernon will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played.
