Baseball Recap: Mountain View Takes a Loss

Mountain View had lost 13 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-21 to make it 14. They came up short against the Desert View Jaguars, falling 12-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mountain Lions of the 13-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Mountain View saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zane Giron, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Giron has hit this season.

As for Desert View, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-9. Considering they have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Desert View's side, Jorge Acu?a made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Acu?a has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Angel Rodriguez looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Cristobal Lorta was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Miguel Siqueiros was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Mountain View nor Desert View have any future games scheduled.
