Preview: Dumont Huskies vs. Cliffside Park Raiders
The Dumont Huskies will be playing at home against the Cliffside Park Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After a string of five wins, Dumont's good fortune finally ran out last Saturday. They took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of NV - Demarest.
Cliffside Park suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were beaten by City College 81-42. While losing is never fun, Cliffside Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 161st in New Jersey, while City College is ranked 41st in Maryland).
Despite the defeat, Cliffside Park saw an underclassman step up: Jerelz Ortiz dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Ortiz hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamil Gonzalez, who scored eight points.
Dumont's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Cliffside Park, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Dumont didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Cliffside Park in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, but they still walked away with a 47-41 win. Does Dumont have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cliffside Park turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
