Otis falls short of Stratton in the playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Otis Bulldogs can now relate to. They fell to the Eagles 59-53. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Otis in their matchups with Stratton: they've now lost nine in a row.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mitchell Stivers, who scored 16 points. Stivers is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Packer, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Otis struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Stratton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jose Gallardo out in front who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Gallardo scored 15 or more points. Von Isenbart was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.

Otis' loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-8. As for Stratton, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-5.

Otis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Stratton will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Flatirons Academy at 5:30 p.m. on March 7th. Stratton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Flatirons Academy likes a good challenge.
