Basketball Recap: Northridge Raiders vs. Chesterton Trojans

Northridge gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They strolled past the Chesterton Trojans with points to spare, taking the game 63-49. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Northridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lily Scholl out in front who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. What's more, Scholl racked up six assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Cam Conley was another key player, shooting 47% from the field on her way to 22 points and six rebounds.

Northridge was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They racked up nine more assists than Chesterton's also-impressive total of ten.

Chesterton's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Novea Brandon, who posted nine points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Lindsi McGuffey, who earned 14 points.

Chesterton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Northridge is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Homestead at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chesterton, they will welcome Munster at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
