Preview: Bangor Slaters vs. Saucon Valley Panthers
Bangor is 8-2 against Saucon Valley since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Bangor Slaters will be home for the holidays to greet the Saucon Valley Panthers at 6:45 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Saturday, Bangor was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 61-56 to East Stroudsburg North. While losing is never fun, Bangor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while East Stroudsburg North is ranked 194th).
Meanwhile, Saucon Valley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 61-47 victory over Kutztown. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Saucon Valley has managed all season.
Jack Robertson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Caleb Grim was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
Bangor now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Saucon Valley, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Bangor came up short against Saucon Valley in their previous meeting back in February, falling 47-41. Can Bangor avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
