Basketball Recap: Mascoutah Falls Despite Big Games from Avery Boehm and Harper Whitworth

Mascoutah and Carbondale squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Mascoutah had to settle for second. They lost 52-30 to the Carbondale Terriers. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Terriers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Despite the defeat, Mascoutah had strong showings from Harper Whitworth, who posted six points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals, and Avery Boehm, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Whitworth a new career-high in steals.

Mascoutah's loss dropped their record down to 3-28. As for Carbondale, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-13.

Mascoutah does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Carbondale, they have already played their next game, a 64-54 defeat against Mt. Vernon on the 22nd.
