Softball Recap: Deming Has No Trouble Against Da Vinci

Deming never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against the Da Vinci Dragons as they made off with an 11-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Kayzleen Apodaca and Brissa Medina made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Apodaca pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Medina tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Apodaca has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Apodaca scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Medina went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave Apodaca a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Kaylee McMillan was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Cristal Enriquez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Deming was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .654. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matches.

Deming's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Da Vinci, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Deming beat the Dragons by a score of 16-1 later that day.
