Soccer Game Preview: McGill-Toolen vs. Grissom

The McGill-Toolen Yellowjackets will square off against the Grissom Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. McGill-Toolen will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

While McGill-Toolen's victory against Bryant wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. McGill-Toolen's defense stepped up to hand Bryant a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. Given McGill-Toolen's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Bryant are ranked 113th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Grissom made sure to put some goals up on the board against Decatur on Tuesday. They blew past the Red Raiders 4-1. Grissom haven't had any issues with Decatur recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

McGill-Toolen pushed their record up to 9-3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Grissom, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2-2.

McGill-Toolen skirted past Grissom 2-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Does McGill-Toolen have another victory up their sleeve, or will Grissom turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
