Basketball Recap: Gautier Gators vs. Stone Tomcats
The Gautier Gators lost against the Stone Tomcats two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Gautier fell to the Tomcats 41-35. While losing is never fun, Gautier can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Tomcats are ranked 102nd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stone to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jabori Moye, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of JaKobey Johnson, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Gautier has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Stone, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-5.
Gautier will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Bulldogs at 8:30 p.m. Stone does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
