Basketball Recap: Makayla Lapp Key Part of a Team Effort in Buccaneers Win

There's no place like home for Bridges Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. Everything went their way against the Edisto Cougars on Tuesday as the Bridges Prep Buccaneers made off with a 41-16 victory. The Buccaneers pushed the score to 31-11 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars had little chance of recovering from.

Bridges Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makayla Lapp led the charge by going 8 for 13 on her way to 17 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Lapp a new career-high. Sopia Fess was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 14 points and five steals.

Bridges Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Bridges Prep's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8. As for Edisto, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Bridges Prep has already played their next contest (against Lake Marion), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Edisto will host Barnwell at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Edisto is facing Barnwell at the right time seeing as Barnwell is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
