Basketball Preview: Barron Collier Cougars vs. Naples Golden Eagles
Barron Collier is 9-1 against the Golden Eagles since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Barron Collier Cougars will be playing at home against the Naples Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Barron Collier will be strutting in after a victory while the Golden Eagles will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Barron Collier didn't have too much trouble with the Bobcats on the road as they won 55-40. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Barron Collier.
SHEILA FORBES and PEYTON HEFFLEFINGER were among the main playmakers for Barron Collier as the former scored 22 points along with two steals and the latter scored 21 points along with five assists and three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which HEFFLEFINGER has scored at least a third of Barron Collier's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Van't Hoff, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-36, which was the final score in Naples' tilt against the Stingrays on Friday. While losing is never fun, Naples can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Stingrays are ranked 74th).
Barron Collier's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Naples, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-15.
Barron Collier beat the Golden Eagles 37-29 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Will Barron Collier repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
