Basketball Recap: Brock Shank's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northwestern over Rossville

Northwestern was the 66-47 winner over Rossville when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Northwestern Tigers fell just short of the Rossville Hornets by a score of 57-55 on Saturday.

Northwestern lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Brock Shank, who went 9-for-20 on his way to 21 points along with six boards and three steals. Those 21 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayden Cook, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Rossville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brayden Thiele-Hahn led the charge by dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. Jordan Skiles was another key player, going 6-for-10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and five rebounds.

Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Rossville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwestern will host Blackford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Blackford will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Northwestern surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rossville, they will face off against Taylor at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rossville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season.
