Moore Haven came out on top against Glades Day on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Terriers won by a run and slipped past the Gators 7-6. That's two games straight that the Terriers have won by just one run.
The team relied heavily on Truley Osceola, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in March. Brooklyn Sergent was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Moore Haven was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Avon Park got themselves on the board against DeSoto County on Monday, but DeSoto County never followed suit. They blew past the Bulldogs 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Paisley Macias made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Skylar Hicks was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamya Brassell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Moore Haven's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Avon Park, their victory bumped their record up to 14-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Moore Haven has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 10.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Avon Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
